Keep Your Knees Safe With Protective Motocross Gear
One of the most common injuries that bother dirt bike racers is an injured knee. If you were not wearing proper motocross gear to protect your knees, you could suffer from debilitating injuries that can keep you immobilized. Although a motocross kit is standard wear for dirt bikers, you still have to wear additional protective equipment like knee and elbow guards, gloves, body armor and a helmet.
Knee injuries can take a long time to get better but you can help yourself heal faster by following some simple tips. Stabilize your injured knee by wearing a brace. You can actually wear a brace while you ride to protect your knee from injuries in case of a fall. Using it after you get injured will also facilitate faster healing.

Some doctors will recommend exercising the injured knee to strengthen it again after surgery or being immobile for weeks. Physical therapy sessions are helpful and probably necessary for proper application of exercises. Physical therapy can also provide some pain relief treatments. Exercises, ultrasound therapy, electric stimulation, and other methods may be applied.
When you take a fall and injure yourself, you can apply an ice pack to the injured area over your motocross kit. Remove protective motocross gear first before applying the ice pack. This minimizes the severity of your injury, reduces pain, bleeding and swelling. Afterwards, your doctor may also recommend occasional cold compress sessions to minimize inflammation.
Some patients may experiment with alternative methods such as acupuncture to relieve pain. Avoid using too many painkillers to relieve knee pain. It might be a good idea to see a physical therapist or chiropractor for natural pain relief. Prescription medication can have addicting effects which may also affect your riding abilities later on. Remember to wear protective gear once you return to motocross racing.
