* Pencil
* All the cables in the previous set up

Step 1

You need to put reset the reset linksys router settings by restoring its factory setting. You can do this by using a pencil to poke the hole at the back of the router with “reset” and hold it for at least 10 to 30 seconds.  This will reset the router and all its setting that you have already configured.

Once done with the reset, unplug all the cables connected to the router and let it rest for few minutes, then you can plug in again.  Go to the modem and disconnect the cable that is connecting the modem and the computer.  Instead connect the cable on the router instead of the modem in the port 1 of the router.

Step 2

Open your web browser that is your way for the linksys wireless router setup configuration. Type http://192.168.1.1 on the URL bar. This is the process on how to log into linksys router. A box will prompt for the username and password. Just put “admin” on the password and hit Enter. Look for the tab “MAC Address Clone” and click it. Select “Clone your PC’s MAC” and save the setting.

Go to the Basic set up and change the IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and save the changes. You must shut down both the PC and the router for few minutes. After this you need to connect the modem to your router via the internet slot. Shut down again the route, modem and your pc for few minutes and once you open all again you have to wait for a few minutes to let the configuration settle in.  In few minutes you should be able to get connected on the internet.
